Whynot Community Development Association
We came together with a common goal of running a school for underprivileged children in our neighbourhood. With the help of an Italian NGO, we built a spacious and bright 3-classroom school that serves several hundred local children and employs local teachers.
The costs of running this school are an ongoing challenge, and to meet these needs as well as to improve their own livelihoods, group members have decided to create a win-win by improving the furnishings of their school buildings and renting the space out as a social hall on weekends. This will provide regular and stable income to the school, while filling an urgent need for safe and affordable social space in a very high-density neighbourhood.
